As an administrator working in the Silicon Valley, one thing I know for sure, technology changes at lightning speed.

It seems as soon as you learn a new technology, another is being deployed. Technology directs what many of us do daily.  We are dependent on office technology.  Be honest,  how many times have you looked at your smartphone in the last hour? Email?

Below is a quick list of a few resources used daily:

  • Video Conferencing Equipment
  • Software Programs
  • Cloud Based Productivity Tools

We could go on and on listing the technologies needed to help us get it all done.

After 30 + years in the industry, I am fascinated with the many “go-to assistants” who continually reinvent themselves. In fact according to IAAP, “The winners will be those professionals who master technology, effectively use their interpersonal and communication skills, have the ability to track and organize…be creative in solving problems, and most importantly, have the willingness to learn and grow, and accept challenges. For these administrative professionals, there is a world of opportunity waiting for them!” – http://www.iaap-hq.org/

These three keys can help you continue to strive, grow, and set you up for continued success.

1) Don’t give up before you try.

Stay creative. Partner with other assistants to create learning workshops.  Share

best practices and new tools.

2) Don’t settle for being complacent with the status quo!

Your executive and team depend on your agility and openness to new

3) Embrace change.

Your company will continue to grow and deploy new technologies. Embracing

these changes means more opportunities for you now and in the future.

What challenges do you have with embracing new technology? Any tips or tools to share?

Looking forward to hearing from you!
